Simon Says “America’s Got Talent
If you’re longing for more of the audition phase of “American Idol,” you are in luck. Newsday says that everyone’s favorite judge, Simon Cowell, is planning to launch a new talent contest.

You’re probably wondering how and where they could possible squeeze one more hour of reality entertainment into Fox’s “AI”-packed schedule. No need to set your DVRs and TiVos because the new show is going to be part of NBC’s summer lineup.

“America’s Got Talent” will showcase everyone and anyone that has some sort of skill, whether it’s singing, magic, comedy, finger puppets — whatever. Like “Idol,” viewers will choose the best acts. Sounds like a bit of a hodgepodge. Seriously: How can you pit a dancer against a juggler against someone that can play a ukulele with their teeth?

The winner isn’t promised fame, but they will certainly get fortune to the tune of $1 million. A three-member panel of judges (sound familiar?) will be on hand. However, Cowell won’t be one of them.

Auditions will begin in Los Angeles on April 6. “America’s Got Talent” will premiere in summer 2006 on NBC.
