America’s Got Talent 7-12-06 Review: Welcome to the Semi-finals, Yawn
By Eric G

America’s Got Talent has officially entered the semi final round. Host Regis Philbon informed the Viewing public that 61 acts were chosen from the prior “Audition” shows. There will be 4 rounds of Semi-Final action where potentially 15 people in each round will get a chance to perform and move on. Well not really.

Apparently all the performers that were chosen to move on from the LA group or first night of the show were back to perform for the judges. The judges then narrowed down to 15 contestants. From those 15 only 10 would perform on the show and get a chance to move on to be the ultimate winner of the 1 million dollar prize. We find out that the judges will then pick one Winner of this Segment to move on to the Final rounds, and the American viewing public will be able to vote via American Idol Style for another contestant. Did we get all the Rules Down? Judges vote – vote – See results in 5 weeks or so. Something asinine like that.

Now all this happened off camera and no one knows who is in the top 15 let alone the 10 that have chance to move on. Only the judges, producers, spies, water boys, grips, NBC execs, hair dressers, make up people, Jimmy Hoffa, and the sandwich guy knows who is about to perform.

America’s Got Talent or better Know as “America Is Bored this Summer” is the #1 rated show. Therefore the brain trust at NBC made a 90 minutes special so we can see just 10 people perform and here the ramblings of Hassloser, Moeshia, and Piers.

Regis “ I must need the Money” Philbon attempts to build the suspense. Will we see a dancing granny, some strippers, jugglers, other non talent that Hasslosser let advance?

America's Got Talent 6-28-06 Recap and Review

America’s Got Talent 6-28 Recap:
Bianca Ryan Saves America’s Got Talent

I tuned in at 9 pm EST for America’s Got Talent. I totally skipped the recap of the first episode because that was painful the first time. NBC even re-broadcast that first episode on Friday night. I guess 3 showings of episode one will get the audience hooked. My enthusiasm for the show had wavered due to the Gong Show style and disorganization of the judges, but I always give a show a 2nd or 3rd chance. Thankfully I did.

America’s Got Talent opened the show with the usual banter of Regis Philbon proclaiming the judges don’t know what acts they will see, and this is a talent search to find out if American Has Talent.

First to perform was a 5 boy tap dancing River Dance style group called “All That” they did have talent in the dancing department. However dancing is more of a variety act then the meat and potatoes of a full blow entertaining evening. I can tell you one thing at prices these days, I am not packing up wife and kids in the mini-van to head to a show that is only about dancing as my entertainment choice. But I digress. ALL THAT was voted on to the next round and we will see this Boy Band – Opps Boy Dancing Group again. Hasseloser exclaimed that this group has a shot to go all the way. Dude, you thought Baywatch was entertainment. Like Chandler and Joey from Friends we watched Baywatch with the sound Off. We just liked the chicks bouncing in slow motion. I digress again. Must be angst.

America’s Got Talent 6-21-06 Review: Bring on The Clowns

America’s Got Talent made its network premier on NBC Wednesday 6-21-06. The much publicized sister show to American Idol was a 2 hour “Audition” show in which the American TV viewing audience was subjected to heinous singing, a senior citizen stripper, granny rapper, a balloon artist, animal acts and countless number of jugglers.

The two hour fiasco aired 27 acts on stage. I counted two, just two that were worthwhile. Both Alexis Jordan a 14 year old singing sensation and male signing group “At Last” were the highlights of the “Talent”. Thirteen other so called acts ranging from juggles, performance artist, animal acts, singers and magicians made it through to the next round.
