America's Got Talent 7-12 Recap and Review

America’s Got Talent 7-12-06 Review: Welcome to the Semi-finals, Yawn
By Eric G

America’s Got Talent has officially entered the semi final round. Host Regis Philbon informed the Viewing public that 61 acts were chosen from the prior “Audition” shows. There will be 4 rounds of Semi-Final action where potentially 15 people in each round will get a chance to perform and move on. Well not really.

Apparently all the performers that were chosen to move on from the LA group (or first night of the show) were back to perform for the judges. The judges then narrowed down to 15 contestants. From those 15 only 10 would perform on the show and get a chance to move on to be the ultimate winner of the 1 million dollar prize. We find out that the judges will then pick one Winner of this Segment to move on to the Final rounds, and the American viewing public will be able to vote via American Idol Style for another contestant. Did we get all the Rules Down? Judges vote – You vote – See results in 5 weeks or so. Something asinine like that. Actually Results are on 7-13-06

Now all this happened off camera and no one knows who is in the top 15 let alone the 10 that have chance to move on. Only the judges, producers, spies, water boys, grips, NBC execs, hair dressers, make up people, Jimmy Hoffa, and the sandwich guy knows who is about to perform.

America’s Got Talent or better Know as “America Is Bored this Summer” is the #1 rated show. Therefore the brain trust at NBC made a 90 minutes special so we can see just 10 people perform and hear the ramblings of Hassloser, Moeshia, and Piers.

Regis “ I must need the Money” Philbon attempts to build the suspense. Will we see a dancing granny, some strippers, jugglers, other non talent that Hasslosser let advance?

The first performer that made it from the Audition Rounds through the top 15 to be one of the Ten to perform on camera is Taylor Ware. Wow, I actual could say that in one breathe. Glad Regis hipped up to the Rules again, or I would be totally lost.
Taylor Ware is the 14 year old Singing Yodeler that self-taught her skills from a book. Taylor Ware performed her act and all three judges were again impressed.

Instead of the Red X of the audition segments, Simon Crowell executive producer installs a X and check mark combination for the judges to give their opinion after the performance. Piers informs us it is a way to tell the viewing audience HOW the Judges feel about the act. Oh My, can the suspense be held any longer?

Taylor Ware got 3 check marks from the 3 Stooges ( Judges). But will she make it through to the next round. Only the judges or the American voting public will determine this.

The 2nd of 10 acts to perform was All That. If you recall All That was the Boy Band. Opps strike that. The look like boy band dancing troop. The Riverdance, hip hop, tap stepping Boy Band Look a likes, performed their routine. Once again 3 check marks and a comment by Piers about their outfits. You see the Boy Band Look alike Dance troop all wore boy band outfits. Rip jeans, sleeveless shirts, punked hairdo’s and tattoos showing.
Piers want them to dress up more. Ok Piers, Whatever!!

The 3rd act on stage out of the 15 of the original La Audition week one, maybe week two performers who was lucky enough to get pass the HassleLosser and the other Stooges was……… Kevin Johnson. Kevin Johnson if you recall is the talented ventriloquist with the two puppets Matilda & Clyde. Once again KJ and the birds astounded the viewers with his ability to through his voice. 3 checks for Kevin Johnson and a head snap. Will Kevin Johnson make it through? He definitely has talent!!

# 4 is the 11 year old singing sensation and poster board picture girl for America’s Got Talent Alexis Jordon. Once again she sang. She sang well. She got 3 checks. Yawn!! This show is taking fricken forever. Move it on people. 90 minutes of this dribble.

You get the point now right. We get to see 10 people. The judges then vote one through and American gets to vote one through. So here are the rest of the people to perform
#5 – Valdik the Juggler – Ho Hum
#6 – Shawn Ryan – a Singer – He Sucked
#7 - JR and his best friends – Dog Act. It was pitiful
#8 – Corina Brouder – Singing Harpist – Decent
#9 – Hoopaliscous – A Kate Blanchett look a like that danced with hula hops - BORING
#10 Finally “The Millers”

The Millers is a brother act consisting of 20 something playing guitar and singing and a 12 year boy who is a phenomenal harmonica player.

The Millers were voted by the Judges to move to the next round. It was a good choice. The only other act of these 10 worthy of moving on in my opinion was Kevin Johnson.

How will America Vote, When will America Find out the result, Will we even care?
